The name of the society shall be:- THE BULLS HEAD (HALE BARNS) GOLF SOCIETY

The objective of which shall be to promote the fellowship and enjoyment of its members and visitors to the society. It will, as a society, abide by the rules and regulations laid down by the relevant governing body related to the game of golf.

 

MEMBERS AND HOLDERS OF OFFICE

The period of office for all committee members will be for one year, unless the post holder is no longer able to continue, in which case a replacement will be elected by all members of the society. The election of officers will occur annually in November. 

 

The Committee shall consist of the following officers:

VICE CAPTAIN / CAPTAIN ELECT

SECRETARY / TREASURER

HANDICAP SECRETARY

MEMBERSHIP OFFICER

WEB EDITOR AND MEDIA CONTROLLER

 

 

 

The responsibilities of the office holders are:-

CHAIRMAN

Will chair all meetings concerned with the society. In the event of absence, the Captain & President Elect or Secretary / Treasurer will adopt these duties.

 

CAPTAIN & PRESIDENT ELECT

Will be responsible for both the etiquette and dress of all members whilst they are attending a game of golf organized in the name of THE BULLS HEAD (HALE BARNS) GOLF SOCIETY and will also have the final decision regarding interpretation of the games rules, regulations and results.

 

VICE CAPTAIN / CAPTAIN ELECT

Will be responsible to provide cover in the absence of the Captain and assist in other committee duties when required.

 

SECRETARY / TREASURER

Will be responsible for booking fixtures, meetings, arrangements and minutes, membership and society funds and accounts.

 

 

HANDICAP SECRETARY

Will be responsible for reviewing all members handicaps and validating non-members handicaps. In the event of absence this duty will fall to the Captain, Chairman or Secretary / Treasurer. The Handicapper may review and/or adjust a players handicap after each game played and organized by the Society.

 

MEMBERSHIP OFFICER

Will be responsible for the approval and recrutement of new members.

 

WEB EDITOR AND MEDIA CONTROLLER

Will be resposible for the web site, email and media in connection with the society.

 

 

ABSENCE

In the event of absence of an official replacement the membership will elect a temporary standby.

 

ANNUAL ELECTION AND ACCOUNTS REVIEW

A meeting will be held each November at which officers will be elected for the coming year and the Secretary / Treasurer will report on the annual accounts.

 

MONIES COLLECTED BY THE SOCIETY

The membership subscription for the society will be set in November for the following year and will be payable immediately on renewal of membership or application.

Non members playing on society days will be requested to pay an additional sum over and above the cost of the event to members.

All cheques of payment to the society are to be made payable to: “THE BULLS HEAD GOLF SOCIETY” .

The Captain and President Elect plus the Secretary / Treasurer will be joint signatories to the society funds.

All members are required to give their indication of participation along with the fees in full a minimum of one week in advance, after this date any inclusion in an event will be at the discretion of the Secretary / Treasurer

 

CONDUCT OF “THE BULLS HEAD (HALE BARNS) GOLF SOCIETY” MEMBERS

 

At all times members of the society shall abide by the rules of the armature status as laid down by the ROYAL AND ANCIENT GOLF CLUB OF ST ANDREWS, FIFE, SCOTLAND.  In addition to this all competitions and events organized by the Society will comply with the above mentioned rules with the exception of BHGS general rules section 5.0.

 

The Society members will abide by the rules and regulations concerning the society at all times. It will be the society member’s responsibility to see that these rules and regulations are abided by and that any infringement is reported to the committee for further action.

 

GUESTS AND NEW MEMBERS

 

Only two guests can accompany one member in any four ball, any additional guests must be accompanied in another four ball arranged by the inviting member.

 

Members that bring guests are to be responsible for their appearance and must inform them of the society's rules and dress code. All guests will be introduced at the lunch time preceding the following match, at which time any new members will also be introduced to familiarise them to existing members.

 

 

DRESS FOR ALL GAMES INVOLVING THE SOCIETY WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:

 

ON THE COURSE:

A collared shirt, trousers, golf shoes (pimple or spikes), during warm weather tailored shorts may be worn with knee length socks, any protective clothing required due to weather conditions.

 

CLUB HOUSE (For dinner and evening):

Suit, collar and tie, shoes.

 

GENERAL RULES

 

To avoid slow play, should a player find his shot out of bounds and no provisional taken rather than returning to the tee or place of last shot he must take a two shot penalty and play from the point of entry.

 

DISSOLUTION

 

Arising from a proposal by the committee, in the event of a majority of the current,  paid up membership electing by postal vote for the dissolution of the society, the following distribution of assets will apply:-

 

(1) All trophies are to be offered to The Bulls Head for display. Failing this they should be offered to their donors or, if the circumstances determine otherwise, their family. If despite best efforts this proves impossible, then they should be sold.

 

(2) Of liquid funds; firstly an amount up to the equivalent of the number of members eligible to vote times the current membership subscription, plus up to £100, will be set aside for the purposes of holding a winding-up dinner for that membership at the Bulls Head within two months of dissolution.

 

(3) Thereafter, any funds remaining will be donated to a charity, or charities, deemed appropriate by a simple majority at that dinner.

 

The society Secretary / Treasurer will be responsible for disposing of all assets and the Captain for arranging and hosting the dinner.

 

PLEASE NOTE

 

The rules regarding any course played on must be adhered to at all times, replacing divots and raking bunkers being of prime importance. The damage of any property belonging to the course must be reported to the society Captain so he may inform the relevant official at the club. Any request for payment by the club will be met by the society member or members concerned.

It is the responsibility of each member to make their own arrangements for insurance (if they wish to do so) . The society will not insure members en bloc.
